Dementia Action Week takes place between 15 – 23 May 2023 and is an awareness raising campaign where individuals and organisations across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin are encouraged to ‘act on dementia’. There are a number of events taking place across the county to mark Dementia Action Week and raise awareness of dementia within the area. Please click HERE for the programme of events.

This is an event for people affected by dementia across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, bringing together a multitude of organisations in one location, so you can find everything you need to know about dementia in one place.

NEW DEMENTIA FRIENDLY CLOCKS

We have now installed Dementia Friendly Clocks in both our waiting rooms as we understand that visiting a GP surgery can be a challenging experience for some people with dementia.
As dementia progresses so does a person's memory and problem-solving abilities. Being able to keep track of current times or dates becomes harder which can lead to confusion and disorientation.
This is a fairly small change that we hope will have a positive impact for those living with dementia. We would love to hear your feedback on how this has made a difference to your visit to our surgery.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN DEMENTIA CARE
The Lived Experience Team are running themed events throughout 2023 to demonstrate the impact and difference made by people, local communities and organisations working together. The purpose of the event is to reach people living with dementia, their carers and people with an interest in dementia to learn more about some of the work that is currently taking place to improve lives, as well as the role that people with lived experience can play in shaping and influencing services.
The next event will be on Dementia Care on Wednesday 31 May 1pm-2.30pm on Microsoft Teams.
The event will focus on new initiatives in the field, in addition to hearing from people with lived experience and how they’ve influenced positive change.
The event welcomes anyone to join who has lived experience, is a carer, or is working in local communities and the health and care system.
